What we do
Gorslas Community Council carries out a wide range of local responsibilities to support the wellbeing of our villages.
Our key functions include:
• Looking after our parks in Cefneithin, Drefach and Gorslas, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming and well‑maintained.
• Considering local planning applications and providing comments to the County Council.
• Working with Carmarthenshire Highways on traffic‑calming measures, road safety and local highway improvements.
• Supporting community safety by working closely with Dyfed‑Powys Police.
• Responding to issues raised by residents and helping resolve local concerns.
• Maintaining and energising selected footway lighting within the community.
• Providing financial assistance to local voluntary groups and community charities (see Finance section).
• Maintaining public seating and noticeboards across the area.
• Appointing representatives to local organisations and outside bodies.
• Nominating school governors to local primary schools.
• Maintaining certain bus shelters within the community.
• Commissioning studies and working in partnership with other organisations to support local projects and improvements.
